im an abu fan all the way but sometimes these competitor reels like daiwa and lews just make me want to know what they're really like. while i know that speed isn't everything i'm tempted to buy it and give it a try even though it doesn't have the drag that the abu does. There I think will lie the answer you are looking for, regardless of which desicion you should make. i have been looking at gear ratios and abu has the revo rocket at 9:1 and daiwa has the zillion at 9.3:1. ![]() Try and find someone local to you that uses the lews you are thinking about and see if you can fish with them for a day and use one for a bit, going back and corn from your sx to the lews on a like set-up. Most academy's have them, on the shelf they will feel very similar to the abu's, it's when you cast them they will shine. At the 199.00 price point this is the only feature I deal the stx has over the lews. My only wish is that the tourney pro from lews had the Eva foam grips like the team lews. In equal price points I feel the lews are better, but of course compare an stx or premier to a mg the Abu would win out. I have every one of the abu's except for some of the really new more like the rocket, etc so I always compare apples to apples.įor instance I wouldn't compare a premier to a mg, but I would to a team lews. They just feel smoother and offer better casting performance for me anyway.Įveryone's tastes may vary, but I prefer the lews. ![]() The abu's are great reels, but my personal preference now lies with the lews. I am migrating now to all lews, all of my abu's have become either back up reels or on combo's I don't use as often. I have a bunch of both, I've always been an Abu guy and have tons of them.
